Museum of Unfortunate Gifts

Miruna Macri and Andrei Bacter turn a funny premise into an elegant little site with the Museum of Unfortunate Gifts. The layout is clean and museum-quiet: a slim ‘MOUG’ wordmark, crisp black type on white, and a numbered exhibit, here ‘The Fish Slippers, an unfortunate gift from ex husband’, complete with a play-audio prompt and a wry first-person story. Balancing all that white space is a glossy render of golden fish-shaped slippers, bow and all, perched on a gallery plinth like a genuine artefact. The joke lands precisely because the design plays it so straight and refined. It is a charming, well-judged piece of editorial web design.
