Luzzu

Jovan Lakic captures the salt and swell of the Mediterranean on Luzzu, the official site for Alex Camilleri’s Malta-set film. Enormous block letters spelling the title are filled with rippling, sunlit sea footage, so the ocean quite literally moves through the type against an inky black backdrop. A tidy horizontal menu and a Sundance award laurel sit calmly beneath, letting the cinematic wordmark command the stage. The effect is atmospheric and immediately filmic, promising the quiet intensity of the story it fronts. It is a striking marriage of typography and web design in service of a single, evocative mood.
