Sentient Foundation is a non-profit building open-source AGI — transparent and community-owned rather than locked inside a single company. Properly Studio delivered a full rebrand across brand identity, motion, and website.
The challenge was making an AI brand feel human. The studio treated it as a question of perception: sentient means capable of feeling, so the system started with sight — the way a newborn first takes in the world before it sharpens. That became a lens the whole identity runs on, paired with a stipple language that drifts between a photograph and raw data, and a palette sampled from natural light. Imagery was generated with AI and then shaped by hand, frame by frame, so every frame reads as observed rather than rendered.

The website carries the idea into one continuous scroll, the homepage bending like a lens as visitors move through it. Research, the builder arena and the contributor pathway sit at the top level, and because the foundation is fully open source, real code from its GitHub lives inside the page. The result feels less like a website and more like a place to move through — a brand that feels, for an organisation set on keeping AI open for everyone.
