GLAS OPTICIAN is a place defined by quiet confidence. Deeply rooted in the history of Copenhagen, it is know n for trust, knowledge, and a carefully built reputation. The store brings together some of the world’s most respected eyewear brands — thoughtfully curated collections chosen for their craftsmanship, heritage, and lasting quality.
Hugmun Studio were asked to create an identity that reflects this character. Clients who know GLAS enter with a natural sense of assurance, expecting something exceptional. At the same time, they are welcomed by warm and knowledgeable professionals who understand that choosing eyewear is as much about individuality and feeling as it is about precision.
The branding was designed to capture this balance of expertise and approachability. Rather than pursuing a strictly black-and-white minimalist aesthetic, the studio aimed for something more nuanced — refined, but never distant.
At the center of the identity is a distinctive logotype with subtle details that reveal themselves over time. It forms part of a flexible typographic system where the name itself — GLAS OPTICIAN — can act as a frame, referencing the world of eyewear.
Color also plays a key role. Deep tones such as Espresso Brown and Maroon, inspired by eyewear frames and tinted lenses, introduce warmth and depth, complemented by soft off-white and sandy backgrounds that echo the atmosphere of the physical spaces.
Because GLAS acts as a curator rather than a manufacturer, every physical touchpoint was designed to express credibility and care — from shopping bags and business cards to cleaning cloths. Materials, weight, and finish were essential, creating objects that feel as considered as the eyewear itself.
The website extends the experience of the stores, presenting the universe of GLAS with clarity and restraint. Photography of the spaces and still life imagery further emphasize craftsmanship and detail.
At its core, the identity was designed to support human connection. Like the eyewear it curates, GLAS OPTICIAN is built to last — with quiet confidence and a deep respect for craftsmanship.
