ITP Thesis Archive 2019

Yeseul Song, Michael Simpson and Dana Elkis built the ITP Thesis Archive 2019 as a spare, exploratory interface set against near-total black. Faint concentric orbit diagrams float in the darkness, with student projects surfacing as small labelled nodes — here, Mai Arakida Izsak’s “Salon109” — that reward searching and filtering by advisor or topic. The restrained white and red type and generous emptiness give the archive a quiet, almost celestial calm. Function leads throughout, yet the constellation metaphor makes navigating the graduate work feel like charting a sky. It is a thoughtful piece of interactive design and web design that turns a school archive into something to explore.
