Nicolas Lanthemann's Space.io is an atmospheric, immersive experience built around the question of why we explore. The design commits fully to darkness — a near-black void in which a finely rendered 3D asteroid drifts and slowly rotates, catching thin highlights along its rugged surface. Elegant serif type reading 'Why we explore' cuts across a horizon line, while a ghosted 'Space' title and a small VR-viewer icon hint at the interactive, real-time depths beneath. The restraint is total, and it makes the single rotating object feel weighty and cinematic. It is a quietly spectacular showcase of what thoughtful WebGL can bring to storytelling on the web.
