AKU

AKU is a design collective based in Tallinn, Estonia, working with cultural, government and music clients to deliver branding and printed matter. Its site greets you with a clear, no-nonsense statement set in bold black type over a soft grey ground. The featured project, "Compilation by the President," pairs a grainy black-and-white portrait with delicate orange topographic contour lines for a wonderfully layered, editorial effect. The restrained interface lets these expressive visuals carry the page. It is confident, culture-driven graphic design and branding from one of Estonia's finest studios.
