Letters from Sweden fonts

Letters from Sweden designs retail and custom typefaces for local and international clients alike. Our mission isn/u2019t just to churn out fonts, our purpose is higher. Printed or pixelated, what drives us is clear communication in the right voice. Our studio is 15 minutes from downtown Stockholm, at the edge of the woods in beautiful Bj/u00f6rkhagen. We find it to be a breath of fresh air. We don/u2019t just draw letters /u2013 we print them in type specimens and talk about them too, through lectures and workshops at any level of education. Our letters come from Sweden, but they are for everyone.

Bl/u00e5kulla: Named after its blue residential buildings, My Longley designed Bl/u00e5kulla while she was living in Hagalund, just outside Stockholm. This single-style, all-caps display face started off as her candidate work during her studies at/u00a0Konstfack. The inspiration for Bl/u00e5kulla came one day when Longley was standing outside and looked up at those majestic light blue facades.

Funkis:/u00a0Designed with/u00a0Fredrik Gruber/u00a0for a collaborative art project, Funkis is a display typeface drawn for bold lettering and signage. It comes in three different weights of all capital letters. The digits are inspired by the characteristic number signs, commonly used on functionalist buildings and houses.

Ivar Nostalgi:/u00a0The advent of phototypesetting in the 1950s liberated type design. As soon as letters stopped being physical things in metal or wood, it led to an explosion of exuberant and extravagant display type. A recurring aesthetic in the 1970s was large x-height, tight-but-not touching letterspacing, and extreme contrast. Ivar Nostalgi unabashedly taps into this golden age of display typography. The special cut of Ivar, tailored for compact, high-impact headlines, flirts with almost-forgotten faces like Times Modern, Caslon Graphique, Trooper Roman, Hawthorn and ITC Grouch.

Arctic Fox: Fj/u00e4llr/u00e4ven develops durable, timeless and functional outdoor equipment. With art direction by/u00a0Round and Round/u00a0and Fj/u00e4llr/u00e4ven we have developed a custom typeface family for Fj/u00e4llr/u00e4ven called Arctic Fox. Work also included a design update of the classic fox icon and logotype.
