Estelle Metalworks Boutique Metal Shop Branding

Estelle Metalworks is a boutique metal shop based in Montreal, Quebec, specializing in bespoke furniture and décor crafted from a variety of metals. The studio’s name honours the founder’s grandmother—an inspiring woman as tough as nails and as resilient as metal. The brand’s symbol designed by Hayley Lim draws inspiration from the humble screw: one of the smallest yet most essential tools in building, representing the “small but mighty” ethos. This screw motif is subtly woven throughout the brand.

The icon merges the screw with the structure of a capital “E,” while circular corner details echo the idea of anchoring and connecting elements across various layouts like modular posters, printed materials, and the web landing page.In metalworking, achieving perfectly straight edges alongside flawless curves is among the most challenging feats. This balance of hard and soft forms is reflected throughout the branding—not only in the symbol but also in the typography. The selection of Aether by DDOTT Foundry as the primary typeface emphasizes this duality, with its precise yet fluid letterforms. This concept also informs the photographic direction, which focuses on macro shots that highlight the intricate interplay of curves and edges in the work.
