Davide Mascioli, a designer and art director based in Rome, welcomes visitors to his portfolio with a wonderfully simple and playful gesture. On a deep black background, a hand-drawn smiley face says “HELLO”, circled by a ring of text that introduces who he is and where he works. The circular lettering switches between white, blue, red and yellow, giving the typography a cheerful, primary-colour rhythm. It is a confident first impression that relies on type, colour and a smile rather than big imagery. The Davide Mascioli portfolio shows how much personality a single, well-considered screen of web design can carry.
