Chernobyl

Uprock approaches a heavy subject with restraint and gravity in Chernobyl, a scrollytelling piece that opens on a desaturated aerial photograph of the reactor complex. A single monumental word, CHERNOBYL, sits in clean white sans-serif across the frame, undercut by the quiet question “What actually happened?” The muted colour and generous negative space let the archival imagery carry the emotion, framing the site as a considered work of digital editorial storytelling. It is a sober, elegantly composed example of web design placed in the service of history.
