algo.tv & illo.tv designed Johns Hopkins University Covid Tracker. Ever since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the John Hopkins University has been a trusted source for providing reliable data from all over the world. With Algo’s automated help all this information was summed up in a campaign of daily short videos, providing a constant update of the current USA situation, as well as a final quick overview of the global one, to the Johns Hopkins Twitter & Youtube followers.
The project had the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies and combined automation and a tailor-made animated template that would render the information both efficient and engaging for an ever larger audience.
From a color palette that would automatically shift its intensity according to the pandemic trend, all the way to shapes and a selection of sounds that would accompany each situation, be it neutral, negative or positive, each video is a unique piece of data-generated design. Big numbers, maps, charts and all design elements work together so as to create a clear, trustworthy overview of the daily evolution of such a complex phenomenon.
