YouTube Studio is where creators see their growth take shape — and Moments are the signals of that journey, from small continuous progress to major, shareable achievements. Yet across surfaces and levels of importance, they weren’t always behaving as part of a coherent language. illo was brought in to change that.

Working in close collaboration with the YouTube Studio creative team, the studio defined and formalised a visual language for Moments — evolving an existing luminance-driven direction into a scalable system built on clarity, flexibility, and emotional impact. Each illustration acts as its own light source: vibrant gradients, soft glows, and colour interactions do structural work rather than purely decorative.

The outcome is a library of 50+ Lottie-ready assets that retain depth and vibrancy in real product conditions, alongside a principled framework that enables YouTube’s internal teams to extend Moments independently — without breaking the visual language.
