How&How has rebranded Bristol’s SS Great Britain as Bristol Dockyards. Amid dwindling ticket sales, an ageing audience and growing scrutiny over the region’s cultural integrity, even the city’s great steamship museum was struggling to keep the experience afloat. Rather than a simple refresh, the studio built out — expanding Bristol Dockyards into an all-new cultural experience that reflects the centuries of radical thinking and world-changing ideas its city is famous for.
Every element was taken from the city. There’s the pink stolen from Totterdown’s terraces that sticks two fingers up to nautical blacks and blues; the collage that stitches timelines, textures, typography and trinkets into a system you can spot across the Floating Harbour; and the defiant voice that runs Bristol’s attitude through its distinctive website. The result returns one of the city’s greatest marvels back to it — a brand identity as fierce, familiar and independently diverse as Bristol itself.
