Cyril Makhoul and Olivier Jonvaux built SILO, a site that revels in density and detail — “ni vraiment un label, ni vraiment une maison d’édition,” as its own header teases. The layout is a gloriously busy grid: a row of weather widgets across the top, a priced catalogue of editions down the left, a grainy red-to-amber gradient glowing at the centre, and a right-hand column of live system stats and archive counts. There is a retro, almost operating-system quality to it, complete with a persistent audio player docked along the bottom edge. Monospaced labels, hairline rules and a matter-of-fact French voice give it the feel of a lovingly over-engineered digital reading room. It is an idiosyncratic bit of web design with a strong editorial soul.
