Designed by Oliver Häusle, the project Graphic Languages A Visual Guide to the Worlds Writing Systems deals with the most wide-spread writing systems and languages on earth. Not only do the languages differ, but the writing systems associated with them are unique and subject to different rules, systematics, and recognition features.
Understanding and recognising various writing systems, as well as being aware of their diversity, encourages inclusivity, cross-cultural communication, and interaction. More than 130 designers from six continents contributed to this collaborative project. These designers share content they have developed themselves in their everyday practise. The individually selected contents in the form of glyphs are intended to create a first point of contact with the 26 writing systems and to encourage further discussion.
