There are plenty of trendy serifs around, but there are challenges when it comes to truly technological and robust ones and sets with Cyrillic support. This is where Kristolit comes into play — a robust serif with a clear historical reference. Kristolit, designed by Belgrade-based art director Sasha Denisova has a bold and impactful character, designed both for the headlines and for the body text.
Kristolit is a Scotch Roman-inspired typeface with a technological twist. It is a variable font featuring both regular and italic styles. Ranging from subtle book weight to bold black, this typeface offers versatile design options. It blends timeless elegance with modern appeal, making it perfect for projects that demand both classic sophistication and technological strength.
The variable version includes weight axis, from regular to black. Kristolit supports all major Latin-based languages and also includes Cyrillic support for Serbian, Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian. It also features stylistic alternates that can shift the tone to a more traditional or concise appearance.
Elegant yet robust, Kristolit’s ample curves contrast sharply with its bold lines, vertical axis, and strong stroke contrast. Its sharp, relentless geometry sets it apart from other serifs and historical references, while its moderate contrast ensures adaptability for both headlines and body text. This type family is optimized for editorial use, branding projects, and identities, striking a perfect balance between aesthetic experimentation, functionality, and legibility. The italic style adds a calligraphic touch while retaining its modern, tech-savvy character.
With impressive variability, Kristolit suits a wide array of contexts. OpenType features like case-sensitive punctuation, ligatures, and localized forms enhance its flexibility, while stylistic sets offer the option for a more historically influenced or distinct appearance. Kristolit is designed to meet diverse typographic needs with clarity and sophistication.
