Klangwelt Toggenburg

To mark the opening of the new Klanghaus in May 2025, Klangwelt Toggenburg has unveiled a striking new visual identity designed by Zurich-based Studio Marcus Kraft. At the heart of the rebrand is a vibrant, dynamic typeface that seems to resonate—visually echoing the themes of sound and vibration that define the institution.

For over two decades, Klangwelt Toggenburg has offered unique experiences in sound, voice, tradition, and resonance—rooted in the rich musical heritage of Eastern Switzerland. Now, with a global audience in mind, the new identity reflects a transformation from regional insider tip to internationally recognized cultural institution.

The Klanghaus, conceived as a walk-in instrument, offers a one-of-a-kind architectural and acoustic experience, combining nature, design, and sound. “The opening marks a major milestone,” says CEO Mirjam Hadorn. “Our new image expresses this leap forward.”

Studio Marcus Kraft spent three years guiding the rebrand, crafting a custom modular typeface inspired by overtones, sound frequencies, and the alpine landscape itself. The new visual system extends beyond typography to include brand architecture, color palette, layout principles, animations, and materials—applied across all platforms from signage and print to social media and a new website.

The identity debuted with the reopening of the Klangweg (sound trail) in 2023 and will reach its full expression at the Klanghaus opening from May 24–25, 2025. Alongside it, the new Resonanzzentrum Peter Roth—Switzerland’s first public sound dome—will open to the public.
