Beautiful holographic brand identity design by Daniel Barkle, a graphic designer and art director from London, UK.
To coincide with the launch of his new portfolio website, Daniel decided to launch a timely, brand refresh for his personal identity. He developed his previous identity further by re-drawing the smiley icon, introducing a word mark, adopting a new typeface and implementing a strict set of layout rules.
Daniel was met with many financial hurdles when attempting to print the business cards and additional elements, as holographic foiling and embossing seemed to be very pricey. To combat that, multiple sheets of holographic mirri were sourced, printed, cut and each element was embossed by hand (It made the whole process way more satisfying than letting someone else do all the craft and graft). Finally, he avoided the traditional lorum ipsum spiel, instead filling the printed extras with something more realistic and in-line with the struggles that freelance designers sometimes go through.
